Phil is a programmer for The Office of Economic Development at the GIS Center where he manages GIS map servers and merges data sets with maps to enable the academic community and the people of Flint to address their goals. Phil came to Outeach in the wake fo the Flint water crisis to combine two of his passions-programming and mapping to put them to good use for the greater Flint region.
Phil holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Eastern Michigan University and has been a faculty lecturer there since graduate school. He is an instructor of programming for cyber security, has studied languages/linguistics and computer science in multiple countries and holds a degree in German Literature. He has experience in embedded software engineering for chemical/gas sensor systems, programming for system and network administration, system intrusion detection and mapping cyber attacks and threat analysis.
